Navigation improvements
The Goal
To improve the process of customers navigating the Advantage suite of products.
The Process
Research

The main challenge in modernizing Bloomberg Tax & Accounting’s Advantage platform was updating it without disrupting existing experiences or exceeding costs and technical limits. I approached this by creating user archetypes, mapping workflows, conducting stakeholder interviews, and engaging directly with customers.
Ideate, Design, and Test

We consolidated insights into How Might We (HMW) statements, ideated low-cost navigation improvements, and validated solutions by testing wireframes with customers, guiding them from complex workflows to simpler, user-centric ones.

Implement

My design approach was adopted throughout the suite of products for its simplicity and efficacy. It eliminated excess clicks, reduced time spent navigating the products, and lowered error rates.

New UI and UX

Before refactoring
Reflection & Lessons Learned
Early in my career, transitioning into UX from software development, Bloomberg Tax & Accounting was a unique challenge.
Understand the technology
Transitioning from software development to design system development required a quick shift to learn React.js and Sketch; a deeper study outside work would have strengthened my efforts on the project.
Ask more questions
UX was new to me and somewhat intimidating. Taking the approach of asking more questions would have set me up for greater impact.
Strengthen relationships
By building stronger relationships, I believe UX could have had a bigger impact on the success of the product.
